Introduction
If you are playing in the mall and accidentally injured yourself, does the mall have to bear your medical expenses? If you pick up something on the street, do you now own it? If a friend asks you to look after one of their possessions and you accidentally lose it, do you have to compensate them? These problems seem unlikely, but they actually happen every day. Written in both Chinese and English, this book presents a series of legal scenarios that a teenager might encounter. Told from the perspective of Ellie—a teenager who recently transferred to a new school—this book describes problems she and her friends encounter and the resulting discussions that she and her father have about legal obligations and the rights of minors. Accompanying the text are illustrations, which help the readers fully understand the concepts discussed and better protect themselves while enjoying the fun. Be sure to share these legal stories with your friends and help them protect themselves from harm as well!
